Students at Dawson Elementary are participating in a character education program and officials say it's working to improve grades and behavior.  This program is called "Early Act First Knight"...In which students learn about the admirable character traits of Knights and how those traits still apply today to make the world a better place.

News Radio KLBJ's Todd Jeffries spoke with Principal Shannon Sellstrom about this program.  Listen to the right...

A special Thank You to our local Rotary Club for sponsoring the awesome program! http://www.rotary-austin.org/index.cfm?display=home&sub=a

Early Act First Knight is a revolutionary character and ethics and education program for K-8 schoolchildren that, for the first time, puts Rotary into mainstream public education.  Teaching the Rotary tradition of “service above self” through the visually captivating theme of knightly heroes, EarlyAct FirstKnight supplements Rotarian-led bimonthly campus service clubs with a comprehensive year-round curriculum-based character education program. More than just a service club, however, EAFK permeates the entire student population with daily Rotary-centered academics which dramatically enhance individual student characterand service club.
