You've Got Mail
Ryan Revolver

Somehow I fooled enough people into believing that I have some importance. From time-to-time I get press releases that I simply look over, and then delete forever from my email. Instead of being a jerk, I figure I might as well share it with you:

Jason Bateman’s directorial debut Bad Words has been acquired by Focus Features (who will be releasing the film in 2014). This news comes out of Toronto-the location of TIFF and the worldwide premiere of Bad Words.  Andrew Dodge wrote the original screenplay; it is his first to be produced, and it was selected from The Black List in 2011.

In the movie Bateman plays a 40 year old who has some self-esteem issues. In an attempt to make himself feel better with being a forty year old virgin he enters the National Spelling Bee due to a loophole. Because he has had to utilize spellcheck for probably decades-he easily outwits all those dumb pre-teen crabby spellers. Somewhere in the competition he makes friends with Chaitanya (Rohan Chand), a ten year old in the competition probably because his parents made him. Not because he is filling unsatisfied with middle age. Bad Words also stars Allison Janney, Ben Falcone, Rachael Harris and Philip Baker Hall.
