A state lawmaker wants "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Hanukkah" in public schools instead of political correctness.
State Rep. Dwayne Bohac from Houston filed the "Merry Christmas Bill."
He said the legislation would let Texas public schools acknowledge and educate students on traditional winter holidays like Christmas, which is a federal holiday, and protect them from lawsuits.
It also clarifies the right of school districts and staff to use traditional greetings.
