After-school program to feed needy kids passes on junk food


Most children filing into the after-school program at Judson W. Robinson Jr. Community Center next to Hermann Park typically start by lining up at a vending machine for Cheetos, Honey Buns, cupcakes, Snickers or Skittles.

Later this month, they will have some healthier options to choose from, not only for snack time but for dinner, as well, under a meal program approved Wednesday by the Houston City Council.
