Austin HS parent charged with felony after confrontation

An apparent case of bullying led to a confrontation between the mother of an Austin High School student and her rivals Thursday morning.

District Police say Christy Franklin entered the Austin High School cafeteria and had words with some students who had problems with her child. District Police Chief Eric Mendez tells us the situation escalated to a physical conflict when officials intervened.

"She went to engage the student and the assistant principal saw this transaction taking place and immediately goes and gets in between the parent and the student. The parent went from being in a verbal altercation with the student to starting to swing, to hit," Mendez told KLBJ Thursday afternoon.
