Traffic tie-ups expected ahead of Obama fund raising visit

Austin's city buses are being detoured around the downtown location where President Obama will speak Tuesday afternoon.

Capital Metro is detouring nine bus routes for three blocks surrounding the Austin Music Hall.

"That detour is to provide for a secure area around the location where the president will speak.  And so working with the Austin Police Department, we've identified a number of streets where they would like to limit the traffic on, and so we're detouring the bus routes down there," the bus agency's Dottie Watkins says.

Watkins says the motorcade will also cause some "pretty tough traffic" for buses and other drivers.  She asks drivers to be patient with bus drivers if frustration builds on the way home Tuesday.
