APD completes its first 24-hour a day 'no refusal' weekend

The Austin Police Department wraps up its first around the clock No Refusal initiative for the Labor Day holiday weekend. Sergeant David Daniels with APD says they arrested 94 people for drunk driving, but he says it could've been a lot worse due to the increase in the No Refusal enforcement hours. The Labor Day No-Refusal initiative ran non-stop from Friday evening to 5 a.m. this morning. This is also the first year a Longhorn football game has been scheduled during a No-Refusal initiative. Of the 94 D-W-I arrests, 11 were forced blood draws and 65-percent of the breath samples collected were more than twice the legal limit. Last year APD arrested 91 people for DWI and 50 percent of those were more than twice the legal limit.
