Travis County Democrats will be keeping their eyes on many propositions as well as their candidates today and they say they are gearing up for a lot of wins.

Propositions like Prop One, the hospital district, are getting bi-partisan support, although the issue was spear headed by Democratic Senator Kirk Watson of Austin. Officials at Travis County democratic headquarters say they're not supporting the measure about geographic representation, though.

Democrats traditionally fare well in Travis County. Right now, all the Commissioners in the Travis County Commissioners Court are Democrats. The only Republican that was on the Court was swept out of office during the last presidential election where many voters voted straight party tickets. That ousted commissioner, Gerald Doughtery is now trying to get his job back.

If Prop One passes, Central Health tax bills for the average priced Travis County homeowners will be 277 dollars. Many of their candidates are running unopposed - they have a single candidate running for the Austin school board.
