The Environmental Protection Agency is conducting a flyover of the Circuit of the America's track in South East Travis County to determine the air quality today, during and after the Formula 1 events this weekend. Pete Baldwin with the Emergency Operations Center says the federal agency is taking a sampling of the air there today through Monday.
Baldwin says they expect to get information about what chemicals are in the air over the Circuit of the America's track each day. He says they've been reviewing plans to respond to an emergency in the middle of a three hour traffic backup and says they will use two Starflight helicopters if they need to.
Baldwin with the Austin-Travis County Emergency Operations Center says the EPA offered to do the survey for free. He says you may notice the planes that are marked with USEPA on their wings flying in straight lines at 500 and 28 hundred feet above the ground. Those flights will happen today through Monday
