A priority for the upcoming school year in Austin may be to expand arts education in the district.

It's part of the Any Given Child Initiative. AISD Superintendent Meria Carstarphen says it combines the resources of the district, the city of Austin, local artists and businesses to move from a traditional arts-involved cultural environment to an Arts-rich design, "At the heart of that, it will mean we will be addressing further equity issues in the area of the arts and also using the research from the work that the Kennedy Center has done with AISD to actually increase academic achievement and graduation rates."
