Capital Metro will be providing a bus stop at The Domain in northwest Austin.  At least as it stands right this moment.

The future MetroRapid service will criss-cross the city from north to south.  One route will run on Burnet Road and South Congress.  Another route will link North and South Lamar.  The two bus routes will cross paths downtown.  The Burnet Road north terminus will, as of now, be at The Domain.  MetroRapid is considered a premium service offshoot of the bus agency's mainline service.

"The staff had been working this issue literally for months and could not get a commitment from the Simon Property group," Capital Metro CEO Linda Watson said.

Watson says it took a couple of phone calls from two city council members and Capital Metro got a commitment from Simon.

Austin city leaders, in 2003, granted a $37-million, 20-year tax incentive to the developers of The Domain."For this stop, that's huge for us and the service we're going to be able to provide," she said.

Austin City Council members Mike Martinez and Chris Riley are on the bus agency's board of directors.  Martinez chairs the board and Riley is the head of the group's Operations Committee.
