Toll authority in Austin would face regular scrutiny under bill

The operators of the 183-A toll road in Cedar Park and Leander, and the future Manor Expressway and Mopac Express Lanes, would face the same type of scrutiny the Texas Department of Transportation gets, under a bill to be considered during the upcoming Legislative session.

House Bill 116, filed by State Representative Lyle Larson, of San Antonio, targets all regional mobilities and amends the Texas Transportation Code to include the new parameters for review.

The bill would shield the RMAs from being abolished, which is allowable under current state law applying to the state DOT.

The CTRMA and its cousins across Texas would also be on the hook for costs of the review.

If the Legislature passes the measure, it will take effect September 1, 2013.
