Changes on the way for school district ratings

The way school districts are rated is changing in Texas.

It used to be school districts were rated by the performance of the lowest performing group in the state. Now the Texas Education Agency's Debbie Ratcliffe says they're looking to change that with the introduction of STAAR, "We'll look at the standard passing rates on the test and graduation rates.  We'll look at growth, academic growth, those sorts of things."

Ratcliffe says the proposed new accountablity system is available for review and comment at the TEA's website. The public comment period will close January 18th.
