Austin Salvation Army prepares for current cold snap

The Salvation Army's Randy Allen says they keep a close eye on the forecast, especially when there's a prediction for cold weather.  “Basically, our policy is anytime it gets 40 or lower, that’s when we open our doors and put down our mats for people to come in.  And we’re expecting that obviously tonight.”

Allen says because they have a heads-up about the weather, they'll have staff get the building ready for the influx of those seeking shelter.  Tonight's forecast is calling for the temperature to dip into the mid-to-low 20s.
