Some San Marcos residents are angry about a city council vote last night allowing apartments near the San Marcos River. They told the council before the 5 to 2 vote they worry it will destroy the environment and the river.
Resident Melissa Drake warned the council about the integrity of the developer slated to build the apartments off of Capes Camp Road, "They are being sued for fraud in Knoxville where they built student housing on top of the most historic civil war battle ground. They clear cut the mountain, they shaved it off to make it ready for apartments and now, allegedly, it is causing deforestation."
Officials with Dovetail Development promised to build a 20 acre park as part of the development. But residents say they may move forward with a recall for council members who voted to approve the project and possibly legal action.
