AUSTIN (TX) - A motorcycle accident in North Austin is the latest in a string of fatal traffic accidents that could have been prevented, according to police.
The unidentified 38-year-old man lost his life around 5 p.m. on Saturday. Austin police said two men were riding their motorcycles down the street, trying to do tricks. That's when one of the bikers popped a wheelie and crashed into a light pole, killing him instantly
The Austin Police Department is now investigating this scene and talking to witnesses in this neighborhood. Police also were reconstructing the accident to figure out what exactly went wrong. This is the second accident this year where a motorcyclist was killed in a neighborhood.
Officers said the accident victim was wearing a helmet. Police are still investigating whether alcohol played a role here and they're warning everyone on the road to pay attention to their surroundings.
