Couple escapes overnight house fire
Cedar Park Fire Department investigating a cause

Cedar Park firefighters say a husband and wife escaped a house fire early Saturday morning. Interim Assistant Chief Randall Blesing said the department got the call at 3:50 a.m. A viewer called the KXAN newsroom to report heavy flames at their neighbors home on Deerfield Park Drive in Cedar Park. She saw about half a dozen fire trucks on scene battling the blaze. The Assistant Chief said a husband and wife were home asleep when it started. The fire woke up the couple and they made it out safely. When firefighters arrived the roof was on fire, and it eventually caved in. Firefighters had time to go inside the house and save some personal belongings. Firefighters expect to be on the scene for several hours Saturday trying to figure out what started the fire.
