An unattended barbeque pit in Southeast Austin set a single-story home in flames, officials said, displacing four adults and four children.
The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. at 2203 Onion Creek Parkway near Interstate 35. The fire engulfed the entire home and caused some damage to the residence next door, according to the Austin Fire Department. The department was still at the scene at 9 a.m. to make sure all the hots spots were put out, officials said.
Damage was estimated to be $246,000.
