UPDATE: Police make an arrest in DPS office break-in
Break-in leads to DPS shutting down North Lamar Office until further notice


An arrest has been made in that vandalism of the DPS driver's license office on North Lamar last night. 40-year-old Kenneth James Vanlue of Austin was picked up in connection with the incident. He's now facing charges of criminal mischief and burglary of a building. The state says no sensitive information was put at risk.


The DPS Lamar Driver License Office, located at 6121 North Lamar Blvd. in Austin, will be closed until further notice after a break-in last night that resulted in vandalism. Customers are advised to go to the Pflugerville Mega Center: 216 E. Wells Branch Parkway Pflugerville, TX 78660  For more information about the mega center, including directions, hours of operation, and options to get in line without going into the office, visit:

The Mega Center is open until 6 p.m. today.

Directions: From I-35 take exit 247 (Pflugerville/FM 1825), then head east on Wells Branch Parkway.
