A few weary residents head home in West

After three days of anxious waiting, the first displaced residents of this grieving town returned to their blast-damaged homes Saturday, even as city officials cautioned townspeople that it will take far longer before they can all go home.

“This is going to be a marathon and not a sprint,” Mayor Tommy Muska told hundreds of residents gathered for a town hall meeting Saturday afternoon. “I can’t be more sorry about it … but I need to prepare you for a long haul.”
