Perry supporting Rainy Day Fund money for roads

Texas roads could see quite an boost in funding by the end of this special Legislative session, if lawmakers and the governor approve releasing money from the rainy day fund.  Governor Rick Perry says that's a plan he can support.

"There are good times, which we're in now, where thoughtful appropriating of long-term investment makes sense," he said.

Perry also favors public debt to pay for roads because interest rates are still very low.  The state's gas tax has not been raised since 1991.
