Those long lines of cars and trucks which stack up every afternoon on 183 between the airport and the Colorado River could get a little shorter soon.  That's because the city is about to spend $230,000 to make it happen.  Alan Hughes, in Austin's Transportation Department, explains what would happen.

"At the bridge structure, there will be two continuous lanes all the way across the bridge. You won't have to merge and you'll be able to continue unimpeded on US 183," he said.

Traffic stacks up there every day.  City Council must first pass the resolution. The Texas Dept. of Transportation would pick up the remaining $20,000.
