Lawsuit creating more problems for fix to AISD payroll system

A lawsuit filed against the Austin school district over its bond package is creating more problems for AISD as the district faces no student growth and increasing costs.

The school district is considering a tax ratification election but in the meantime Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen says they need to address some immediate concerns first, "The Travis County Taxpayers Union, they do have the bond dollars tied up.  And we know that we are still struggling with a very old, antiquated payroll system that is really starting to show it's problems."

Dr. Carstarphen says they're recommending the school board allow them to dip into reserve funds and spend the estimated seven million dollars needed for the new payroll system.
