The Austin Parks and Rec Department wants $250,000.00 to hire a consultant to study the cities aquatics facilities. Council member Laura Morrison says swimming pools are a very necessary function for the city, "As the summers gets hotter, aquatics will become a much more critical element of public health and relief from the incessant heat that we sometimes feel."

Morrison supports the expenditure. The council will hear more about the study at their meeting this week.
