APD keeping an eye on Barton Creek Mall after caller reports a man with a gun earlier today

Austin police were on the scene within one minute of getting a 911 call from Barton Creek Square Mall today after a caller reported seeing armed men entering the Nordstrom store around 11:30 this morning.

Lieutenant Ely Reyes says a search turned up nothing, but they take these calls very seriously. Reyes says officers combed the entire mall, some stores closing temporarily, but found no one suspicious and cleared it at 12:30. During that time, Eanes ISD also called brief lock downs at Westlake High School, Hill Country Middle and Cedar Creek Elementary just as a precautionary measure.

Lt. Reyes says police will maintain a presence at the mall for the remainder of the day. Police are working to track the woman who made the call.
