The LCRA Board has come around to the same concerns voiced by many local leaders months ago.
The LCRA's Clara Tuma says they plan to hold a special-called meeting next week to consider tighter restrictions on water releases to downstream rice farmers than they came up with in November, "After the last couple of months with virtually no rain, the board will take another at perhaps requesting additional restrictions on releases from the Highland Lakes."
The Board will consider cutting off all interruptible downstream releases if the Highland Lakes are less than 45-percent full. The current combined lake level of Travis and Buchanan is 41-percent full. They are still recommending a limited release if lake levels are above 45-percent as of March 1st.
