Supreme Court ruling on gay marraige could impact Texas

When the ball dropped on 2013, same sex couples in Maryland officially became hitched. That's got some wondering, how much longer until it's legalized in Texas.

The answer to that will likely come later this year. The supreme court is set to take up California's ban on same sex marriage. Like in Texas, it's unconstitutional there. If the justices overturn their ban, Chuck Smith with "Equality Texas" says, the same legal logic could be applied here, "It is conceivably possible that the Supreme Court might rule broadly and in such a way that it might have an impact outside California."

Smith says that's likely the only way same sex marriage will be approved in Texas soon because the legislature doesn't seem to be ready to debate it.
