Austin police have charged a 23-year-old man with Child Endangerment after piecing together how a 13-year-old girl died New Year's Day. The affidavit reveals some of the details of how Sophia Martinez spent the last hours of her life. She and her 15-year-old best friend ended up New Year's eve at the home of Mario Angeles-Hernandez and Jose Garcia-Zavala. They'd only met weeks before at a bus stop.
Hernandez reportedly supplied the girls with hard liquor, the affidavit saying the 13-year-old consumed at least 9 servings of Grey Goose and whiskey. She was found on the couch unresponsive by her friend the next morning. Instead of calling E-M-S, the affidavit says they males dropped both girls back at the house where they'd picked them up the night before. Martinez was transported by ambulance to Dell Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
