The state is spending a ton of money to study ways to improve traffic on I-35.
In all, 312-million in tax dollars approved by the Legislature two years ago. Tim Lomax is a highway researcher from Bryan / College Station and says 35 in central Texas is a huge problem, "80 different strategies to improve traffic, improve things like telecommunting, flexible work hours, ride sharing. Also looking at different funding strategies."
Their research includes a computer simulation model which tells them how bad traffic could get in the future, based on what they're seeing today and with growth projections. They will use all of that information to figure out where to spend money which could be approved by lawmakers between now and June.
