There are thousands of community college alums in Texas who have earned an associates degree and don't even know it.

That's because many of them never transfer back the credits they earn at the four-year university to get the associate degree. That's about to change at Austin Community College however, thanks to a partnership with the University of Texas. ACC President Dr. Richard Rhodes, "It is an automated reverse transfer of transcripts from the University to the community college so that we can evaluate the transcript of combined credits from both institutions and when they've met the requirements, then we'll awared them the degree that they've earned."

Rhodes says they plan to go back ten years, but must get permission from past students first.
