An audit of the State's controversial Cancer research institute has shown that CPRIT violated its own rules and State law in awarding grants. Clinical Trials Network was required by law to match the State funding in order to receive the $25-million dollar grant, "It's pretty clear that there were no standards being put in place with regard to the awarding of the grant, terms and conditions being placed on the award of the grant, and then compliance of these to determine whether these terms were being met."
That's State Senator Wendy Davis. She's drafting legislation to address transparency and conflict-of-interest issues at CPRIT and the separate CPRIT Foundation. CT Net announced on Monday it was closing its doors.
