Teacher group continues push to restore education funding

Teachers groups aren't too happy about what Governor Perry didn't have to say about education in his State of the State address.

Governor Perry may have called for improving access and choice in public and higher education, but Texas American Federation of Teachers Rob D'Amico says he didn't say a thing about restoring five point four billion dollars in cuts to Texas schools, "Now that the economy is recovering and we get to a stable point, you have to restore those cuts that increased our class sizes, laid off 10 thousand teachers, and that's 25 thousand employees total, and put a serious strain on our school system."

D'Amico says once those cuts are restored, then the Governor can talk about using the Rainy Day fund for other things.

Texas AFT's Rob D'Amico says the path the Governor is outlining is taking us backwards.
