After a heated debate at the Capitol last week, representatives of a popular yet controversial online curriculum for Texas public schools have agreed to increase oversight and expand public access to address the concerns.  Under the changes, announced Friday by state Sen. Dan Patrick, the Houston Republican who chairs the Education Committee, the CSCOPE curriculum will undergo a full review in partnership with the State Board of Education. It also will create a permanent review board and make all lesson content public.  “I appreciate CSCOPE’s willingness to address concerns brought to light recently,” said Barbara Cargill, the State Board of Education chairwoman. “The State Board of Education looks forward to working with them to resolve these issues, so CSCOPE can remain a useful tool for participating school districts.”
