RunTex store cleared out, foundation struggling
Items from store will be sold at auction

Travis County constables spent part of Friday clearing out the last remaining items RunTex store on Riverside Drive one day after the building's owner evicted the business because of unpaid rent. The items will eventually be auctioned off to the public with the money raised going towards payment of the court judgment. Meanwhile, nonprofit foundation that has been associated with what had long been Austin's signature store for running shoes and related gear has been operating in the red for the past few years, a review of its financial statement shows. In 2011, the last year from which records are available, the RunTex Foundation paid out more than $63,000 in expenses but only took in $35,700. Total assets were nearly $640,000 less than the liabilities, records show. The year before, the foundation showed a positive cash flow, taking in some $50,600 in grants and donation while paying out just over $28,000. But the assets-to-liabilities picture was about the same as in 2011. Over the last four years of available records. the foundation brought in $329,000 but spent $419,000 for a difference of $90,000, the records show.
