Shutdown threatens Camp Mabry's ability to respond to threats

The ongoing government shutdown may be putting Texans lives at risk.

2200 uniformed military technicians at Camp Mabry furloughed earlier in the year by the sequestration are being furloughed once again thanks to the government shutdown.  Lt. Colonel Joanne Macgregor says that means if a natural disaster occurs.  The Texas National Guard may have a hard time responding, "As every day progresses, maintenance and aircraft are left sitting. And as that happens, some additional maintenance needs to be done on those aircraft, so therefore, it delays our ability to respond in a timely manner."

Macgregor says the longer they are furloughed the longer the delay will be for a military response to emergencies.
