FORT BLISS, Texas (AP) - Fort Bliss officials plan to detail how a massive U.S. Army restructuring will affect the West Texas Army post.
The Army has announced that Fort Bliss and Fort Hood each will lose a 4,000-soldier brigade as part of massive U.S. Army restructuring, but neither Texas Army post is losing that many soldiers.
Maj. Joe Buccino is a Fort Bliss spokesman. He plans to provide details Wednesday of what the post near El Paso will lose. On Tuesday, he said he expected the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, part of the 1st Armored Division, to be eliminated.
At Fort Hood in Central Texas, officials said the 4th Armored Brigade Combat Team known as "Long Knife," part of the 1st Cavalry Division, will be cut.
