ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - A man suspected of opening fire in a suburban North Texas apartment complex, wounding one person fatally, has surrendered to police after a 71/2-hour standoff.
Arlington police Lt. Christopher Cook says the Joel Jonas White surrendered about 1:30 p.m. Monday. He says one person was wounded, fatally, in the Monday morning shooting.
White is in the city jail charged with murder. Bond is set at $250,000.
Cook says police around 6 a.m. Monday responded to 911 calls about shots fired. He says the suspect also fired at police who have secured the scene. No officers were reported hurt.
Police evacuated about 25 residents from the complex. The victim's identity hasn't been released.
