EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Two men who pleaded guilty to roles in a scheme to bribe a top El Paso County official are to learn their punishment.

Former El Paso City Council member Raymond R. Telles and former banker Roberto "Bobby" Ruiz admitted to participating in a scheme to bribe County Judge Anthony Cobos, El Paso County's top official. The aim was to steer a $40 million county debt refinancing to Ruiz's bank.

Two other men who pleaded guilty and were to be sentenced Tuesday had their hearings postponed. Lorenzo Hilario Aguilar, a local businessman who used his connections to influence Cobos, will be sentenced on Dec. 12. Local lobbyist Antonio Dill learns his punishment on Jan. 8.

Cobos, who also pleaded guilty, is to be sentenced on Dec. 9.
