DALLAS (AP) - A fire in an underground electric vault in downtown Dallas during an ice storm has forced electricity to be cut to a five-block area, including City Hall, during repairs.
Dallas-based utility Oncor says the fire happened around 4:30 a.m. CST Friday. Flames could be seen shooting out of a manhole.
Emergency responders had no immediate reports of anyone hurt.
Oncor spokesman Chris Schein says officials at Dallas City Hall, which has backup generators, were notified. City officials earlier announced Dallas offices would be delayed in opening, until 10 a.m. Friday, due to weather.
The Dallas Zoo and Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park are closed through Saturday.
