Austin police officer cleared in shooting of armed man

An Austin police officer won't face charges, after a Travis County Grand Jury clears him in the shooting death of an armed man in a North Austin neighborhood. According to the Travis County District Attorney's office:

A Travis County Grand Jury has concluded its review of the March 1st, 2013 shooting death of John Schaefer by Austin Police Department (APD) Officer Jonathan Whitted and has declined to issue any indictment related to the incident.
