Council might settle lawsuit with children of man killed by detective

Austin City Council members are set to again possibly settle a lawsuit with the three minor children of a man fatally shot by a former detective last year.

Council members have not yet agreed upon an amount of a potential settlement, and remain in negotiations with the attorney representing the family of Larry Eugene Jackson Jr. However, the amount is widely expected to likely top $1 million, potentially making it the largest settlement after a police shooting.
