Man with multiple drunk driving convictions will serve life in prison

A man with six previous drunk driving convictions will spend the rest of his life in prison after driving drunk for the seventh, and what will be his last time. It took the jury less that 30 minutes to convict 46-year-old Terry Lynn Stevens. Burnet County Assistant District Attorney Blake Ewing says Stevens didn't injure anyone during his benders, but he didn't learn his lesson either. He says,"He had several opportunities to rehabilitate himself. He'd been given probation, he'd been released on parole from prison, and there are a lot of resources available to people in his position to try to correct that behavior. He hadn't taken advantage of any of them and the jury didn't look very kindly on that." Stevens' blood alcohol was more than three times the legal limit two hours after crashing his truck into a fence while trying to enter a Marble Falls gated community.
