Voices: Top tech execs need to speak up on diversity

In recent weeks, their companies have been reporting the gender and ethnic composition of their workforces. The numbers show women, blacks and Hispanics are sadly underrepresented, in the low single digits. Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson told USA TODAY this week that tech diversity is the next big challenge for the civil rights movement.

But instead of getting pithy quotes from the top bosses – as we routinely do with every product announcement, earnings report and multibillion-dollar acquisition – we get blog posts from human resources people in charge of diversity.
