Canadian Parliament Debates Whether the Word ‘Fart’ is Offensive

The Canadian parliament ably demonstrated Friday that the United States does not have a monopoly on dumb and petty political controversies, with a legislative debate over whether or not the word “fart” is obscene.

Conservative Member of Parliament Michelle Rempel was giving a floor speech accusing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s administration of ignoring the economic concerns of the Western provinces. “Why does this government treat Alberta like a fart in the room that nobody wants to talk about or acknowledge?” she asked. “That is where my constituents have been at with this government for over a year.”
