New York City sues drug companies over opioid epidemic
New York City is suing five major pharmaceutical companies over opioids.
According to Mayor Bill de Blasio, it's time to hold companies that manufacture and distribute opioids accountable for the epidemic of overdose deaths.
Named in the half-billion-dollar suit are: Johnson & Johnson, Teva and Janssen Pharmaceuticals of New Jersey, plus Purdue Pharmaceuticals of New York and Cephalon of Pennsylvania.
