Hot women may be offended by schools "Cougar" mascot, google to ban gun ads and too fat to join the military

Today at 10am on The Todd & Don Show

Too fat to enlist?

More than two-thirds of America's youth would fail to qualify for military service because of physical, behavioral or educational shortcomings, posing challenges to building the next generation of soldiers even as the U.S. draws down troops from conflict zones.

The military deems many youngsters ineligible due to obesity, lack of a high-school diploma, felony convictions and prescription-drug use for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. But others are now also running afoul of standards for appearance amid the growing popularity of large-scale tattoos and devices called ear gauges that create large holes in earlobes.

School drops Cougars as team name because it might offend women

Corner Canyon High School hasn't even opened yet, and it's already facing controversy.   The new school, scheduled to open in 2013 in Draper, Utah, announced this week that it had chosen its mascot and school colors.   According to KSTU-TV Fox 13, future students within the school's boundaries were mailed ballots to vote for the sports teams' colors and mascot. The colors navy, silver and white were selected and the Charger was named the mascot -- the first in Utah to use it.

Google to Block Firearm, Ammunition, Gun Accessory Ads

Beginning in September, Google plans to block firearm, ammunition, and gun accessory ads.   According to Google Support's "Dangerous Products or Services" page, the company "[wants] to keep people safe both online and offline, so [they] won't allow the promotion of some products or services that cause damage, harm, or injury."

Included in the dangerous products for which ads will be blocked are "Guns & Parts." This covers "functional devices that appear to discharge a projectile at high velocity, whether for sport, self-defense, or combat."   Also included is a ban on ads for "any part or component that's necessary to the function of a gun or intended for attachment to a gun." This covers "gun scopes, ammunition, ammunition clips or belts."
