It was confirmed that Steven Paddock, the shooter involved in the deadly Las Vegas Massacre, had equipped at least two of his weapons with #BumpFireStocks (also known as a Bumpstock.) The legal accessory effectively made a semiautomatic weapon an automatic weapon. The bump stock allows the gun to use the force of the recoil to fire multiple times in succession without the user having to move their finger on the stock. This is a legal modification because it does not modify the weapon itself. We asked you in on Twitter if you think bumpstocks should be banned as a result of this shooting.

We learned that the shooter had been prescribed diazepam 3 months prior to the incident. When misused the side-effects of the medication can include confusion, insomnia and anxiety. When combined with liquor, the medication has a higher potential for adverse side effects.

The shooter also tried to book a room at another hotel the week prior. Paddock moved onto to the Mandalay Bay after learning that the hotels where fully books. The hotel he attempted to book would have overlooked the “Life is beautiful” festival and would have been much larger than the Route 91 festival.

On today’s tech news we learn that the 2013 security breach of yahoo was significantly larger than first thought. The initial breach was reported to effect one billion user accounts. The new release of information has made it clear that basically every user had their information exposed. While the breach didn’t give the hackers passwords directly, they had enough information to work backwards and figure it out.

Trump has recently visited the island of #PuertoRico to see the relief efforts on the ground. The island recovery is underway, but the mayor of San Juan still has harsh criticism for Trump. She says that the relief efforts have not gone far enough to ensure that more island resident won’t die from lack of supplies. We talk to Dianna and get her take on the situation.
