APD is looking for the owner of severely wounded dog found abandoned

Austin Animal Control is looking for the owner of a pit bull who was found in an industrial part of town with severe wounds. Investigator Alan Schwettmann says a red and white female pit bull terrier was found abandoned on the side of the road in the 2200 block of Investment Drive standing next to a wire cage, "Once she was taken to the shelter she was found to not have a micro-chip, so we really have no owner information on the dog. The dog had a severe injury to left flank, which extended from the front left shoulder to the hind leg. It was a pretty severe wound."
Schwettmann says the wound was so severe, she had to be euthanized. Schwettmann says it looks like the dog was burned somehow - possibly from boiling water. They're hoping someone recognizes her and will call them if they know who the owner is.
