Austin police arrest sexual assault of a child suspect

A man is under arrest and facing charges for the sexual assault of a child.  According to APD:

On Friday, August 22, 2014, at 12:31 a.m., APD patrol officers stopped Melvin Alexander Aguilar for a traffic violation. Aguilar did not have a photo ID and the identity he provided to the officer matched that of a person who was a suspect in Sexual Assault of a Child case from 2012. The case had been forwarded to a Travis County Grand Jury which later issued a six-count indictment.

Aguilar was then arrested for no driver’s license. Later, it was learned that he was the person who was wanted by police.

Melvin Alexander Aguilar (D.O.B. 12-22-91) is currently being held in the Travis County jail. The indictment includes:

2 counts of Sexual Assault of a Child – 2nd degree felony
2 counts of Indecency with a Child by Contact – 2nd degree Felony
2 counts of Indecency with a Child by Exposure – 3rd degree Felony
