Austin is pumping millions into Waller Creek park

The City of Austin is throwing $110-million at the Waller Creek Park program.  Critics though, like Bill Bunch with Save Our Springs, believe the public shouldn't be burdened even further considering this $110 million comes on top of a whole stream of public dollars.  Others point to Waller Creek's large homeless population and say that's where the money should be spent because that will hurt property value there in the long run.

The plan is to invest that money directly into the chain of parks in the area to drive up property values, which would then allow the city to use the revenue to pay down other debts.  Critics call it a waste of tax dollars, especially as Austin grapples with an affordability problem.
